Course Description
The goal of this course is to thoroughly educate radiologic technologists and other healthcare professionals about working with and imaging patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). This course will cover important statistics and information about DVT and PE, review medical terminology and the anatomy and physiology of the venous system. It will also identify the causes, symptoms, complications, and risks of DVT and PE. Diagnosis utilizing chest X-ray imaging, computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) scans, nuclear ventilation-perfusion lung scans, magnetic resonance venography scans, and duplex sonography imaging will be covered. A video demonstrating how DVT and PE develop is included, and an interview with an imaging expert who discusses CTPA scanning procedures, protocols, and patient management is also featured. The course will conclude by discussing treatment, prognosis, and prevention strategies.
Learning Objectives
After reviewing the content, the participant should be able to:
Categories: CT, MRI, Sonography

In order to receive CE credit, you must first complete the activity content. When completed, go to the "Take CE Test!" link to access the post-test.
Submit the completed answers to determine if you have passed the post-test assessment. You must answer 18 out of 24 questions correctly to receive CE credit. You will have no more than 3 attempts to successfully complete the post-test.
Participants successfully completing the activity content and passing the post-test will receive 2.25 ARRT Category A credits.
Approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists for ARRT Category A credit.
Approved by the state of Florida for ARRT Category A credit (for Technical credits).
Texas direct credit (ionizing radiation).
This activity may be available in multiple formats or from different sponsors. ARRT does not allow CE activities such as Internet courses, home study programs, or directed readings to be repeated for CE credit in the same biennium.
