ABSTRACT
The goal of this course is to familiarize radiologic technologists (RTs) and other healthcare professionals with all aspects of patients with diabetes. The course will begin by reviewing the scope and definition of diabetes and examining its related physiology. Classification of the types of diabetes, exploration of their symptoms, and potential complications will be discussed. Treatment options, care management, a review of diabetes research and its future, and the RT's role related to diabetic emergencies and managing patients in their care will be outlined. The course will conclude with a patient interview to bring a patient's perspective of living with diabetes into consideration.
